Fram Museum 4D

A Shared Reality Experience

The Fram Museum in Oslo launched the new “Roald Amundsen North Pole Flight Simulator” and a permanent exhibition on the 1925 N25-N24 flights to commemorate the centenary of the Amundsen-Ellsworth polar flight expedition. The new attractions delivered by Sarner International opened in 2025 and were attended by His Majesty King Harald V.

The 4D motion simulator transports visitors to 1925 and Amundsen’s perilous attempt to fly to the North Pole.  The audience ride alongside Amundsen and his friends in the Dornier-Wal sea planes, in an immersive experience of the historical event.

Moonraker created the visual content for the ride, synchronised with physical effects and sound design as the story takes us at low altitude across polar ice sheets and to land on the ice itself.

A huge amount of research went into creating the photoreal arctic landscapes for the film.  Similarly, the two Dornier-Wal sea planes were modelled and textured in exacting detail.  The show seamlessly integrates actual historical archive of the events, delivering an authentic and memorable account of this historical adventure.
