Simon Clarke: Creative Director
Simon's award-winning creative work has been recognised by his clients and peers through flagship programmes and series for the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and Channel 4.
With a keen interest in Science and Natural History, he has had the opportunity to work with many of the industries leading film makers, producers and directors, most recently on the global success of BBC’s Planet Earth II.
As an established VFX Supervisor Simon has spent much of his 22-year career steering the creative and technical process both on-set, on location and with the hugely talented artists in our Bristol Studio, where to this day he remains actively involved in the creative leadership and look development of our projects. Competitive on and off the pitch, Simon enjoys a good game of tennis with his son, running the odd marathon and playing the piano.
Jon Grafton: Managing Director
Jon has been leading production and creative departments and businesses for the last fifteen years.
Having started his career producing CGI and visual effects shots for broadcasters and advertisers, Jon also moved into the production of print/art work, graphic design and live action. This included setting up the content department Storylab for Dentsu Aegis Networks and leading the production department at Addiction (now part of Bray Leino).
Jon has been working with Simon for the last thirteen years and has produced work for the BBC (including the hugely successful Planet Earth II), Sky, Channel 4, Channel 5, History Channel, Discovery, Nat Geo, Smithsonian and a number of other production companies and broadcasters.
Jon lives in the Chew Valley in Somerset and outside work enjoys running and talking to anyone who will listen about wine.
Jem Grimshaw: VFX Supervisor
Jem is an experienced lighting technical director who has worked with numerous leading VFX facilities in London and Bristol across feature films such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Clash of the Titans, Jupiter Ascending, and John Carter From Mars, playing a critical role in the early look development of various CG environments across complex vfx sequences.
More recently he has firmly settled at Moonraker lending his technical and creative abilities to a range of flagship broadcast television projects, including BBC Planet Earth II, Barbarians Rising, the recent National Geographic Drama ‘Mars’ and Timeworm Monsters for BBC Dr.Who.
His extensive experience across both feature films, commercials and television work, has provided him the opportunity to refine his skills to craft and light shots in many varied styles, whether photorealistic or graphic representation.
Jem is a master at developing the aesthetic direction of a creative brief, able to respond to direction and develop a concept to final image, aided by his broad based creative background and an exceptional eye for detail.
Scott Metcalfe: Producer
Scott has a wealth of animation, motion graphics and VFX production experience spanning television, commercials and features.
He arrived at Moonraker in 2015 to join the rebellion, working on the epic 8 hour doc-buster Barbarians Rising for History Channel. Scott assisted in supervising the production management and delivery of over 400 groundbreaking visual effects shots for this hugely ambitious series.
Since then Scott has become a key member of the team, leading production on many projects and assisting in shot delivery of the hugely successful Planet Earth II and Mars.
Prior to joining Moonraker Scott produced many high profile broadcast graphics projects for the BBC, BBC Natural History Unit, ITV, SKY, National Geographic and Discovery.
He began his career in features working as a production coordinator on the big budget CGI feature animation Arthur Christmas, and the Oscar nominated The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists.
Scott has a passion for cinema and studied film at graduate and post graduate level, obtaining a Masters in Film & Television Production from the University of Bristol. Aside from watching movies he enjoys spending time with his young family and obsessing over his fast growing record collection.
Graham Stott: Creative Lead
Graham entered the VFX industry having started out as a 2d cell animator. His skillset broadened out as a 3d generalist working on a broad range of projects including BBC1's bafta award winning ‘Battlefield Britain' and the RTS winning 'Titanic - birth of a legend' for ITV.
During this time Graham's development as an artist continued and he cemented his reputation as a skilled individual capable of handling entire jobs from previs to final compositing. His interest in finishing shots led to a specialisation away from 3d and into compositing full time, where he continued to make significant contributions on award winning shows such as BBC1's ‘Wonders of the Solar System' and WGBH ‘ Life Beyond Earth'.
Graham's career reached a new height when as VFX supervisor he was the named recipient of an Emmy and RTS Award, for the History channel's 'WWII from Space'.
Currently he continues to work as a VFX supervisor, applying his enthusiasm and finishing verve to a variety of long form broadcast projects, most recently BBC ‘Wonders of the Monsoon’. Outside of his work in the VFX industry, Graham enjoys a good movie and a glass of wine!
Emma Kolasinska: Producer
Emma has worked across the board in agency, production and post production.
She has over 10 years experience working with some of Europes best commerical directors, production companies and broadcasters across music videos, corporate, online, commerical and programming.
In her spare time Emma likes a challenge... a few of her feats include the worlds toughest obstacle course "Tough Guy" and running London to Brighton (yes, in one go).
Alex Rumsey: 3D Generalist
Alex joined Moonraker in 2014 after graduating with a first class degree in Visual Effects studying under the Gifted and Talented scholarship program
and has firmly established himself as an integral part of our 3d team.
That talent has continued helping to establish technical and creative solutions on such shows as Barbarians Rising ‘The 8-hour doc buster’ for History Channel and SKY ONE’S AMAZING Animal Family series.
Alex has developed a keen interest in emerging aesthetics and technologies within the industry, including photogrammetry, reality capture, and virtual reality and is using these skills to good effect on our current projects.
Outside of work Alex enjoys tinkering with electronics and practical effects projects, alongside landscape photography and videography.
Ryan McGrath: 2D Designer
Ryan became the youngest addition to the Moonraker team in 2016. He is a compositor and generalist with a background in art & design. Beginning his professional career as an accomplished After Effects artist he has been keen to expand his skills with other software such as Fusion, Nuke and Maya.
He discovered a passion for Visual Effects & Motion Graphics in university and his artistic abilities quickly transferred. He graduated with 1st class honours picking up 2 Ffresh awards from The Student Media Festival of Wales. Since graduating Ryan has worked with production companies in Cardiff and Bristol.
Moving to Bristol in early 2016, Ryan has immersed himself in the city's music & art culture. He is an avid gamer and film fan who likes to stay creative, enjoying drawing and painting.
Tom Downes: Head of 3D
Annie Scott: Studio Manager
Annie joined the Moonraker team in the summer of 2017 with a wealth of administration experience behind her. In her role as Studio Manager she looks after the day to day smooth running of the studio.
Although new to the VFX industry Annie has a keen interest in the arts, having achieved a first class honours degree in History of Art from the University of Leeds. In her spare time Annie loves to think of herself as an amateur interior designer and is very partial to a nice cold G&T.
Daisy Wesbter: Production Assistant
Having moved from London to Bristol in September of 2017, Daisy Joins us from notable post-production company Smoke & Mirrors. While there she assisted on major campaigns for many important clients including Burberry and Heineken.
An avid traveller, Daisy loves to spend her spare time exploring what the world has to offer, be it a culinary experience in a local restaurant or an adventure in a far off land.
